The 7 Miles of Christmas

1st run of the trip
As I am sitting here to write this it just started to snow. There is currently about 12 inches of snow on the ground which definitely makes it feel more like Christmas here than in SoCal.
After two days off I finally got to go out this morning for my first run of the trip at 7:30am. It was a perfect morning with a partly sunny sky and 33 degrees temp. I planned on running yesterday morning, but because we where out until 1:30am and I hadn’t slept in 43 hours I didn’t make it up in time...and it was also raining.
As a walked out the door on to the back porch and immediately slipped on the ice into a very uncomfortable splits position…at that point I should have walked back upstairs and crawled in bed. Instead I walked off the muscle pull and headed down into the park across the street. The house is right across the street from a park which is located infront of Lake Champlain. I made my way down through the park to the trail which looked fairly safe. I made it about 1.5 miles when I suddenly stepped on a piece of ice that quickly cracked which drove my foot 8 inches into freezing water.
After a few choice words I decided I had run far enough. I headed back as my toes quickly started to burn and then slowly go numb. By the time I made it back to the house my toes had warmed up so I decided to finish the run on the streets.

Off to the Northeast
By Chris
On my cell phone (excuse the errors)
We survived the redeye flight to New York arriving at 5am. We hung around NY city for the morning visiting Rockefeller center and Central Park.
Headed up to Connecticut in the afternoon and stopped off in Westport, CT to visit Target Training. Great place! I will post a video and pictures in the next few days.
Stayed in Farmington, CT for the night and will be heading up to Burlington, VT to stay the rest of the week. Hope to go snow shoeing in Stowe for the first time this week.

Quick trip to Calgary and Tri IT triathlon shop
I also had some free time to stop by Tri IT on Friday morning. This is a great tri shop in Calgary. They have all the major brands in stock and also have in store spin classes. While there I meet the owner Brian and one of their employees Jordan Bryden who is an Elite Canadian triathlete in pursuit of the Olympic Games.
